Some of our members...

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Willand Theatrical Society is made up of both locals to Willand and of the neighbouring towns. We have a vast range of ages and skill sets,

and every member is passionate about what they bring to the show...

I am one of the founder members of WiTS and here I am 10 years later and still loving it!

We are a happy, friendly, supportive family of people who have a passion for all aspects of theatre.

I have been a member of Willand Theatrical Society from its inception and it has been lots of fun. I started amateur dramatics at school and then continued whilst in the RAF as a member of RAFTA (Royal Air Force Theatrical Association). After leaving the RAF I didn’t tread the boards for many years until I saw the advert in our Parish Magazine, that a new group was being set up in Willand. I have participated in most of the clubs productions and have been privileged to try out various characters, from Dames to comedy duos, which has been a lot of fun. There are always many jobs to be covered for a production and I’ve enjoyed learning so many new things. With new members joining and new scripts being produced, it’s an exciting time for the club and I look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength

Having supported my child in the chorus for many years, I took the plunge to join the cast several years ago, and have happily taken on some larger roles since. WiTS is a fantastically welcoming and enthusiastic group, and I thoroughly enjoy our rehersals and performances.

I joined WiTS after seeing Little Red Riding Hood and feeling jealous of those on stage. Since then I have been in the little mermaid, Agatha Crusty, Cinderella 'What' happened next  and most recently Treasure Island.

Being in WiTS has given me the opportunity to work with likeminded people. The supportive nature of the group has helped me develop not only my confidence but love of theatre!

I joined WiTS to try something different as I enjoy drama but have never been on the stage. I like being involved in WiTS because I have met lots of different people.

Alan joined the society two years ago as Musical Director. Since then he has discovered a whole new family of friends. Thank goodness there are no primadonnas in the group and even those who think they are tone deaf can be gently encouraged to realise that they can actually sing! So if you fancy treading the boards do come and join the group and you will never regret doing it.

I joined WiTS to start dancing with my ballet group, from then I moved on to  being in the chorus and recently have taken on slightly larger rolls. I really enjoy the fact that WiTS gives me the opportunity to act and dance and it encourages me to grow my performing skills. I'm currently undertaking my bronze D of E and acting in the theatre is my "skill" section.

Parallel Lines

The novel is more of a whisper, whereas the stage is a shout
